Tiny Mammals

I saw a pair of baby, or juvenile, squirrels playing and rummaging side by side in my front yard today.  Too cute!  They got startled and froze in the same position, in the same direction, at the edge of a wall.  Looked like a pair of little squirrel sentry statues.

I'm a big Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan, although I didn't get into it until the show was almost over.. around season 8.  When I lived in CA and didn't have the Sci Fi channel, my dad was kind enough to tape and mail them to me.  I have stacks of video tapes of old shows.  I decided it was time to modernize, so I've been working on getting them onto dvd.  It's a slow process.. it takes an awful long time to burn a movie to dvd, but it sure will be a space saver.

Saw a Florentine (double-flogging) demo the other week.  I always wanted to know how to do that.  I've been practicing a little, but my left arm just isn't as strong or as coordinated as my right, so it gets tiring very quickly.  Clumsy, too.  I always get my falls tangled.  And getting your floggers all tangled is no way to impress someone.

Tipsy

I'm a little drunk tonight.   It's true.  Vodka.

I had a craving.  An olfactory craving, if you will.  So I wandered across the street- barefoot -over to the woods at 3 am to get to the mimosa tree.  I plucked a choice a blossom:  full, fuzzy, and fragrant, and brought it back home to sniff late into the night.

Ah the sweet scent of insanity.

I think it's Summer

It's been so hot the past few days.  Just went outside to listen to the bugs and heard a rustling under my small holly bush (there used to be 3 in a row, now there's just the one).  Lo and Behold, a good sized turtle was there, just rummaging in the leaves.  We stared at each other for long minutes.  I couldn't decide if I should take it to the woods across the street, or leave it where it was.  I finally left it there, figuring it must have a good reason to be under a holly bush.

Foggy dew

Just went for a walk in the dense fog out there.  It's so thick I could barely see to the end of the street, then everything blurs away.  Forlorn yet beautiful.  It's gonna turn into a sauna later today, for sure.  I always wanted to hang out somewhere where the fog creeps across the ground in wisps, layers revealing, concealing.  The only place I've been where I actually saw that was when driving through the redwoody hills on the coast, a ways north of San Francisco.  Very pretty out there.

Nothing much has happened lately, except I did finally break down and order a dollfie.  They're expensive but I've wanted one for so long.  I just hope I don't get ripped off.   It'll take weeks for it to get here anyway.

There's a chipmunk living in my front yard!
